Inland Rail meeting looking at the proposal for Thallon to Goondiwindi connecting line to the Inland Rail. This was to canvas stakeholders for what they see may be issues with this project. We encourage any interested stakeholders to be involved with this process. Issues raised –

  • Availability and cost need to be an improvement over trucks to get people to change to using trains.

  • Coordination between rail and road to make both efficient and responsive to needs of community.

  • Recognise that a lot of freight task is domestic destinations like feedlots, not only export through Brisbane or other ports.

  • Location of hub should be close to Goondiwindi, not at Kurumbul, to avoid potential double-handling of freight.
